The Many Types of Construction Contractor

Yo! Welcome to this new blog. Last year, I decided to fix up my home. I had lived in this place for the past 20 years and since I moved in, I haven't really done a thing to it. I decided to do something about it when I arrived home one day and saw how terrible my house looked compared to my neighbour's places. I called in a range of different contractors to replace the roof, repair the walls and paint the interior. I was really pleased with the results and I picked up a lot useful tips which I would like to share with you.

Shopping for Acoustic Panelling Products? Read This Guide

When it comes to combatting noise in various indoor environments, such as homes, offices, restaurants, reception halls and more, acoustic panel installation is the way to go.

Acoustic panels are sound-absorbing panels that are designed to reduce noise or echoes within a building, thus increasing the acoustic comfort of its occupants. These panels can be attached to the ceilings and interior walls of a room, be suspended or come as free-standing partitions.

If you're in the market for acoustic panels, you need to decide which type meets your needs. Here is a look at some key factors to take into account before making a final decision about acoustic panelling products.

Substrate Material

The various types of acoustic panels on the market vary in performance and durability depending on the core material used to manufacture the products. Some of the common cores used in the manufacture of these panels include cotton, cellulose, foam, fibreglass, polyester, polypropylene, mineral fibreboard and mass-loaded vinyl.

When choosing acoustic panelling products for your project, it is important to know which substrate material best meets your needs in terms of sound-reducing efficiency and other qualities you might desire.

For example, polypropylene is favoured for its water resistance whereas cotton is considered to be a great choice for the environment.

Size

Acoustic panels come in a wide range of standard sizes, but you can still get something custom, depending on your specific requirements. Taking measurements of the area where the panels are to be installed can help you determine which size panels you need for your project.

Thickness

The thickness of acoustic panels also matters, since it affects their noise reduction efficiency. The thicker the panels, the more sound they absorb and the more acoustic comfort they provide to building occupants. This means you should install thicker panels in rooms that receive high amounts of noise.

Finish

Acoustic panels come in a wide selection of finishes, including natural, paint, primer, fabric-wrapped, vinyl, metal, sailcloth and many more. The finish is meant to protect the substrate material from the elements, but it can also serve a decorative purpose.

Choose a finish based on the environment in which the panels will be used and your interior design goals.

Brand

Like several other products on the construction market, there are many different brands of acoustic panels on the market. Choose a brand that has a proven track record of success in providing its customers with quality products.
